Green chemicals from the forest industry residues, Sekab in Sweden

The planned facility in Örnsköldsvik will produce green chemicals from the forestry industry residues. The goal of the project is to upgrade and commercialize technology solutions geared towards the production of sustainable biofuels and green chemical products. Sekab’s CelluAPP® is developed to process biomasses into new bio-based raw materials such as sugar, ethanol and lignin which in turn can be used for several end products such as biofuels, asphalt and pharmaceuticals.

The start of the pre-engineering phase of the facility will take place in late 2021. AFRY will deliver a wide scale of services, such as project management services and process, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation and building engineering as part of an ongoing feasibility study and permit application process. In addition, AFRY is providing sustainability analysis and environmental services as well as resources for the project owner.
